The 30-year saga of the development of Iron Gates continues – for the sixth time a development application will be advertised.

Richmond Valley Council is expected to re-advertise the proposed Iron Gates development at Evans Head on Monday, January 29.

This comes after a decision by the NSW Land and Environment Court at the end of November that allowed Goldcoral Pty Ltd to make some changes to the development application.

Submissions from the public are expected to be open for 28 days.

The consent authority is the Land and Environment Court. The case will heard on June 3–14.

Hearing dates are scheduled in Ballina, Lismore and are open to the public. The proceedings will be livestreamed.

In October 2022, the 100ha Evans River frontage Iron Gates was for sale.

There was a protest on July 2022 when the Iron Gates DA was before the council. Read about that here.
