Slippery Naughtons Gap Road section closed because of safety concerns

Naughtons Gap Road has been closed to all traffic from Rambaldinis Road to 720 Naughtons Gap Road today, Monday, January 15.

Recent wet weather has made the roadworks slippery and unsafe for cars and trucks to use this section of road.

Local residents have been notified, and the road is expected to be reopened at 4pm tomorrow, Tuesday, January 16.

The repair of Naughtons Gap Road has been a long time coming. One part of the road has been impacted by a landslip since 2020. (Not the part closed today)

Richmond Valley Council said just as it was ready to fix the landslip, the March floods of 2022 hit.

The biggest challenge has been getting funding, the council said.

The road is expected to be fixed by the end of this year.

Richmond Valley Council will update their Facebook page when the road reopens tomorrow.
