If you need sandbags to divert floodwaters, they are free from the SES

Heavy rain continues tonight and tomorrow, with predicted six-hourly rainfall totals between 70-100mm, likely to increase to 100-160mm east of Kyogle and Grafton.

Anyone needing sandbags to hold back or divert water can get them from Casino SES.

Casino SES has prefilled sandbags ready for you to collect or if you are unable to pick up a crew can deliver and lay them for you.

Some people think that they have to pay for this service, Casino SES said.

“We can assure you there is no charge at all. There is never a cost for any of the services we provide.”

If you do require sandbags, call 132 500 and you will be called back to arrange pick up or delivery.

This rainfall has the potential to cause minor flooding in the Northern Rivers from today and into Friday.

Catchments likely to be affected include:

Richmond River – minor flooding

Wilsons River – minor flooding

Tweed and Rous rivers – minor flooding

Brunswick River and Marshalls Creek – minor flooding

Orara River – minor flooding

Bellinger and Kalang rivers – minor flooding

Nambucca River – minor flooding
