Cakes, tea, an inspiring talk, a TV star and a celebrity jillaroo – that is the Beef Week High Tea on May 20.
Jillaroo Jess, aka Jess Edwards, is guest speaker at the High Tea.
Jess is a cowgirl who drives road trains, wrangles cattle and handles snakes.
For the past 15 years, she has been working in media, agriculture, trucking, and sharing her stories on her social media.
One of her videos went viral. It was of her as a ‘down to earth chick doing a man’s job’.
Jess jumped on the opportunity that came from the attention from the video and used it as a stepping stone to promote women in male-dominated industries.
No job is too difficult or too dirty for Jess, who believes that hard work and a good attitude will get you anywhere. She is determined to be a positive role model to young people, especially young women.
When she’s not filming for TV, she’s at home in Central Queensland covered in dirt, she said.
Jess will talk about her inspiring journey at the high tea.
There will be a special appearance by TV personality Gretel Killeen too.
