April 18, 2022
Kyogle’s Liesl Pederson spends her day at the front of the classroom teaching students at Casino Public School.
But she has a dream that goes way beyond the classroom — she wants to sing.
Liesl has just released her first single and video.
Here With Me is on YouTube.
“I’m hoping to get noticed and to get into the music industry,” she said.
Liesl is writing and publishing her own songs to raise her profile to help her get an audition for The Voice, a competition on television for aspiring singers.
Liesl has applied before for The Voice, and she will apply again because her dream is to sing.
“I’d love to sing fulltime,” she said. “That would be amazing.”
Liesl is into singing for musical theatre and she starred in the Kyogle production of Bye Bye Birdie.
Liesl began writing Here With Me in 2020 and came up with the melody, lyrics and some chords to practice with for almost a year.
Then she met Rex Forwood who was involved in the production of Bye Bye Birdie.
“Rex was the most amazing person with heaps of knowledge, experience and expertise that made me feel at ease through each step of producing the song and video clip,” Liesl said.
Here With Me is a song about that time in a relationship where you never want to be without that person. No matter where they are, what they’re doing, you just want to be close to them and see them as your future.
Liesl has more songs to record and she plans to release them in a month or two.
