Lion’s share of money goes to community groups

Casino Lions Club gave out money to several community groups at a dinner at the Casino RSM Club on Wednesday, July 12.

Lions Vice District Governor Stuart Perrett was visiting from Stanthorpe.

The recipients of the funds were:

Casino Pony Club, $1000 for show jumping equipment

Casino Community Kitchen, $1000 for a hot water system

Casino Cricket Club, $700

Westpac Rescue Helicopter, $2000 for logistical operations

Bentley Art Prize, $500 for an art prize

Casino Fun Run, $1000 official sponsorship

QE parkrun, $700 for a gazebo and camera

North Coast Deaf Camp, $1000 towards camp fees

Casino Richmond Lions Branch, $1000 for social outing support

Casino Lions Club has been going for 71 years.

After the floods the club distributed $67,000 towards the flood recovery.

The goods the club purchased from Days Machinery, Betta Electrical and Rural Irrigation went to people impacted by the floods.

Lion Club member Denise Green said the stores would take $100 off any purchases before she even asked.
