Police were called to a property on Beaury Street, Urbenville after reports of a serious assault at 7.30am today, Friday, March 15.
At the scene, police were told that two women, aged 55 and 67, had been assaulted by a man known to them.
Both women were treated by paramedics before being taken to Lismore Base Hospital for further treatment.
Both women were in a serious but stable condition.
A 72 year old man was arrested at the scene and taken to Casino Police Station.
