Man using block splitter seriously injuries hand, flown to hospital

Just after 10am this morning, Monday March 21, the Westpac Rescue Helicopter flew to a property at Bonalbo where a 66 year old man had a serious hand injury after being hit by a block splitter.

Paramedics and emergency services attended the incident.

Because of the nature of the injuries and the specialist care required the man was transported by road to the Bonalbo helicopter pad where the Westpac Rescue Helicopter and critical care medical team rendezvoused.

The man was flown direct to the Gold Coast University Hospital.

He is in a stable condition and will undergo further specialist treatment.
