Mia Mackay, 11, is going to hang her winning show ribbon above her bed so every morning when she wakes up she can see it.

Mia came first in the junior parade of stud beef at the Sydney Royal Easter Show and returns to Kyogle later tonight, Saturday, April 8.

Her mother Naomi Fuller said Mia caught the eye of the judges when she came into the show ring.

It is the first time Mia has entered an event in the Sydney show.

“I was nervous and confident,” Mia said.

What was she thinking as she walked in the ring?

“Stay calm, keep your eyes on your animal and the judges and do what you know,” Mia said.

Her style impressed the judges and she was presented with the winning blue ribbon.

Mia has entered the Kyogle Show, “too many times to count” and with her team mates will enter in Casino Beef Week for the first time, representing Kyogle High School.

Her parents are “pretty stoked” about her Royal Show win.

The feature cow for this year’s show is the Speckle Park cattle breed.

Mia also entered the Speckle Park Sydney Royal Youth Feature Show in Junior Judging & Parading where she led a Speckle Park heifer into the ring and gave comments like a judge would.

She “borrowed” the heifer from Matt and Mikayla Black from M & M Fitting in Jiggi.

Mia was highly commended in this event that featured participants up to 18 years.
