Missing girl found dead in Clarence River

A 19-month-old girl was reported missing on the Clarence River on Sunday, May 15 at 10.15am.

Emergency services were called to a property on the Clarence River at Palmers Island, 55km north-east of Grafton where they found the girl had died.

Clarence and Coffs police had searched the property for 20 minutes before they found the child unresponsive in the river.

Police performed CPR until paramedics arrived and took the girl to Maclean Hospital. The child was unable to be revived.

An investigation has now begun into the circumstances surrounding her death.

Those inquiries are continuing and a report will be prepared for the information of the Coroner.
