For anyone wanting to install a new energy efficient air conditioner or replace an old one with a more efficient model, you may be able to get a discount on the cost of the air-con from the State Government’s Energy Savings Scheme.
Air conditioners eligible for this Energy Savings Scheme incentive must be high quality and energy efficient.
Using more energy efficient air conditioning systems will help reduce NSW’s emissions by 70% by 2035 and achieve net zero by 2050, according to the State Government.
How much is the discount incentive?
This incentive is provided as an upfront discount in the quote provided to you for the installation of a new air conditioner.
If you’re eligible, discounts can be:
up to $550 if you install a new 6kW air conditioner system
up to $560 if you replace an old air conditioner with a 6kW split system.

- the location of your installation and the services provided which may include things like travel and transportation costs
- the model you choose to install
- the design of your home or business which may influence the complexity of the installation and the need for any additional building work
