Pet food factory leaves Evans Head for bigger premises

For seven years, Frontier Pets grew its pet food business from a warehouse in Evans Head.

That expansion has been so successful, the business has moved to larger premises in Brisbane.

Founder of Frontier Pets Diana Scott described the move as a bittersweet moment.

“We started producing our pet food and treats in Evans Head back in 2017,” Ms Scott said.

“I thought at the time that we would be in Evans for the duration. But the business has grown so rapidly, that the current facility just can’t cope with the new production quantities.

“It’ll be sad to leave, but we just can’t manage in the current location.”

Ms Scott said when they first started the business they were producing about 1000 kilos per month.

“We’re now up to nearly 3000 kilos per day.”

Frontier Pets chief executive Simon Potchecary said by moving production to Brisbane, they’ll be increasing its capacity tenfold.

“Frontier Pets is making significant strides both domestically and internationally. With a robust customer base in Australia and expanding exports to key markets like Korea, Taiwan, and Singapore, our brand’s growth trajectory is strong,” Mr Potchecary said.

Jo Slade from Frontier Pets Customer Care said Frontier Pets had relocated to a new facility in Pinkenba, Brisbane.

“This has definitely been a hard one as we honestly had the best crew here in Evans Head,” Ms Slade said.

“We have retained a number of our Evans Head team Evans Head who are currently working from our Evans Head site and also the option from home office setups.

“People can still pop into the old site to pick up products a few days per week and Buffie, Pippa (office labradoodle) and I still love the doggo visits from our furry friends.”
