Repairs start on flood damaged roadway to Richmond River

Halstead Drive is a mess after the flood damage last year.

Work begins soon on Halstead Drive in Casino.

The first stage of the Halstead Drive restoration project will be cleaning up the broken concrete from the riverbank.

Halstead Drive leads down to Richmond River and was torn apart in last year’s floods.

The second stage of the repairs is a geotechnical assessment, surveys and design.

Then comes stage three – the construction of the new Halstead Drive concrete accessway.

The project is being managed by Richmond Valley Council and is funded through the Crown Lands flood recovery program.

During the project, time-lapse photography equipment will be installed.

The photography will be strictly limited to the construction site.

Halstead Drive is on Crown Land and the State Government is funding the repair with  a $1.5million grant.
