Smaller yarding of 980 head at NRLX cattle sales

There was a yarding of 980 head at the NRLX cattle sales today, Wednesday, May 14, which was down by 620 from the previous week. 

The yarding consisted of a good supply of young cattle mainly weaners and a fair penning of cows.

The yarding of young cattle consisted mainly of weaners and a few pens of light yearlings. 

Quality was very mixed with a large percentage of young cattle showing the effects of the wet weather.

The market was easier with restocker weaner steers selling 30c cheaper, some sales more depending on quality, ranging from 238c to 430c  with the medium weight steers averaging 370c/kg. 

Restocker weaner heifers were down by 20c selling from 220c to 328c/kg. 

Yearling steers sold according to quality ranging from 314c to 338c/kg.

There was a larger number of plain conditioned cows penned, with most sales selling 10c to 20c easier.  The 3 and 4 score cows sold from 235c to 267c/kg.
