Thirty schools get a cash boost to grow a kitchen garden

Thirty primary schools in the Northern Rivers will receive a grant to grow a kitchen garden.

The Live Life Well @ School Program promotes physical activity and healthy eating.

A total of $15,000 has been awarded to 30 schools in the region which means each school gets $500.

State MP Janelle Saffin said some schools will use the grants to grow bush tucker or to distribute or sell produce to the local community as a fundraiser.

The schools in the IndyNR.com patch to receive a contribution to growing a garden are:

Broadwater Public School

Drake Public School

Empire Vale Public School

Evans River K-12 School

Larnook Public School

Urbenville Public School
