Today’s the day the teddy bears had a picnic – inside

Today was a wet day for a teddy bears’ picnic so the bears and children moved inside to the Visitors Information Centre in Casino.

The teddy bears’ picnic was part of Beef Week program and it’s the first time the event has been held.

Destination Officer Claire Grantham-Smith organised two Casino based authors Gwendolyn Gray and Jeanette Bennett to read their children’s books to the visiting pre-schoolers.

“We were going to be outdoors but Plan B was to have the picnic indoors,” Ms Grantham-Smith said.

St Mary’s Preschool children brought along their own teddy bears, listened to the stories and saw the other teddies on display.

Beef Week Queen Tayla Dawson will judge the Best Dressed Teddy Bear this week.

The picnic continues tomorrow, Tuesday, May 24. Head to the Visitors Centre at 84 Centre St, Casino from 10am-2pm. Meet the bears and bring your own favourite bear if you wish.
