Agents yarded 1946 head at the first fat sale at the NRLX on Wednesday, February 7.
Export cattle were 10/20 cents cheaper on last week’s wet weather rates.
Weaner cattle varied in price with quality being the major factor.
Good quality cattle sold to strong competition. The secondary quality cattle did see cheaper trends with buyers becoming more selective with their purchases.
There were 15 head of cows & calves with an average price of $1444. Top price was $1640.
There were 36 bullocks on sale with an average price of 296c/kg. The top price was 316c/kg.
Top price for bulls was 286c/kg.
There were 637 head of cows with an average price of 243c/kg topping at 288c/kg.
The top heifer price was 372c/kg while the best price on the 698 steers was 480c/kg.
There were 12 vealer bulls with an average price of 278c/kg. The price on the two yearling heifers at the sale was 240c/kg.
The total sale value for Wednesday, February 7 was $2,076,476.
