UPDATE: Two people trapped in car rollover, both taken to hospitals in Queensland

A car rolled over at Backmede and two people were trapped inside the car at 9:06pm yesterday, Saturday, July 15.

Casino Rescue Squad worked with paramedics in a difficult and technical rescue to get the people out of the car.

A teenager who was trapped in the car was released by emergency crews and she was treated for head and pelvic injuries before being airlifted by the Westpac Rescue Helicopter to Princess Alexandra Hospital in Brisbane.

The man in the car was treated for facial injuries and taken to Lismore Airport where the ambulance was met by a Queensland-based helicopter for transport to hospital.

RFS crews were on scene helping with fire protection.

Rescue crews stayed at Backmede until 2.30am to provide lighting for the forensic crash unit team.

At 7am this morning, Fairy Hill Station Rd was still closed between the railway crossing and Backmede Rd.
