Two teens charged after police chase a stolen 4WD

Two teenage boys have been charged after a police pursuit through Casino and surrounds.

Police were patrolling Simpson Parade, Casino, yesterday, Sunday, September 22 when they found a 4WD which had allegedly been stolen from a home at Goonellabah on Friday, September 20.

Officers turned on their lights and sirens and tried to stop the 4WD.

The 4WD failed to stop and a pursuit began.

The 4WD was driven through Ellangowan and Myrtle Creek, before coming to Grafton.

One male was seen running from the 4WD on New Street, Grafton before two other males abandoned the car on Jubilee Avenue, Grafton before it crashed into a fence.

A 15 year old boy was arrested and a short time later on Little Armidale Street, Grafton, a 17 year old was also arrested.`

The third teen got away.

Two teenagers were taken to Grafton Police Station, and the 17 year old was charged with police pursuit – not stopping and driving dangerously. Police said he was unlicensed.

The 15 year old was charged with being carried in conveyance without consent of an owner.

Both teenagers were refused bail and appeared before a children’s court yesterday.

The 17 year old was refused bail and the 15 year old was given conditional bail with both due to appear before a children’s court today.

Investigations into the incident are ongoing.
