In time of floods, local knowledge is the best. We’ve compiled a list of roads we know about. The Richmond Valley Council Facebook page is particularly useful.

Heavy rain is expected later today, Sunday, February 27 so road conditions are likely to worsen.
The Bureau of Meteorology forecast local intense rainfall leading to dangerous and life-threatening flooding was with thunderstorms expected this afternoon. The six-hourly rainfall totals could be more than 250mm.
There is a moderate to major flood warning for the Richmond River at Wiangaree, Kyogle, Casino, Coraki, Bungawalbin and Woodburn.
We’ve been told that the Casino to Lismore Rd is still open. There is flash flooding in the ‘basin’ around Dawson Street. The pumps are operating at full capacity but avoid the area.
Be aware, things will change quickly today with more rain and already sodden ground.
Lina Eve at Faraway Rd in Cawongla said the road to her place was almost impassible.
“Its not flooded but the rain has created huge craters that you have to drive through as they take up most of the road.
“It’s very dangerous in other places too, where the blind corners are, as everyone is trying to avoid the deep ruts, so they drive all over the road. Accidents just waiting to happen.”
