Vax rates have risen with Clarence close to 90%, Kyogle and Richmond Valley behind

Vaccination rates on the North Coast have risen dramatically in the past month yet some areas are still a way behind the state level.
NSW sits at 90.4% for people who are fully vaccinated.
This is where our regions sit on percentage of people vaccinated.

Kyogle
  • One dose 92.3%
  • Two doses 80.7%
Richmond Valley
  • One dose 94.4%
  • Two doses 81.8%
Clarence Valley
  • One dose 95%
  • Two doses 89.4%
The highest fully vaxed region in the Northern River is Port Macquarie at 93.7% and the lowest is Byron Shire at 75%.

With nearly all local government areas across the North Coast above 80% fully vaccinated, attention is turning to younger community members.
Parents can consider vaccinations for 12–15-year-olds.
Healthy North Coast’s Julie Sturgess said as visitors return to the region and the holiday season approaches, it was important that younger community members were also protected from covid.
“As we move to living with covid in the community, being vaccinated will mean getting covid is less likely to be severe, can be treated at home, and is less likely to lead to hospitalisation,” Ms Sturgess said.
“Despite the slower start due to supply issues, North Coast is now on track for the highest growth in second dose vaccination rates across the state over the next month.”
