Numbers were up slightly from last week with a yarding of 1400 head at the NRLX cattle sales in Casino today, Wednesday, August 26.
Good falls of rain saw an increased demand from southern and western areas, resulting in restocker weaner steers improving by 20c to 30c depending on weight and breed, selling from 466c to 616c with the medium weights averaging 540c/kg.
Restocker weaner heifers however, experienced the largest rise to be 40cc to 50c dearer ranging from 394c to 515c with the medium weights averaging 465c/kg.
There was only a few yearling steers that toped at 494c/kg.
Cows dominated the export section with insufficient numbers of grown steers for a quote. The cow market improved by 10c/kg and more in places.
The 2 score medium weights sold from 320c to 355c, while 3 score medium weights averaged 362c and heavy cows sold from 362c to 395c/kg.
A strong bull market saw heavy weights reach a top price of 408c/kg.
