Shannonbrook RFS Brigade has a new fire truck.

Assistant Commissioner Mathew Smith handed over a new set of keys to captain Craig Yates at the Casino Fire Control Centre today, Saturday, October 25.

”It brings us up to date with technology and safety,” Mr Yates said.

The Category 7 truck costs $288,000 and replaces the 27 year old fire truck the Shannonbrook Brigade had been using.

Mr Yates has been with the RFS for 49 years and captain for Shannonbrook for 25 years. Why does he do it?

“Someone has to do it,” he said.

”At days end, if you save someone’s property, there is a feeling of self satisfaction.”

Shannonbrook Brigade has nine members and they’re always looking for more.
