Brett Kelly has resigned from the position of general manager after only seven weeks in the job.

He was brought in after Graham Kennett was sacked by a vote from five councillors at the December 11 council meeting.

Mayor Kylie Webster announced this morning, Monday, January 29, that she had accepted the resignation of interim general manager Brett Kelly.

Mr Kelly has accepted a senior management position elsewhere and will stay on at Kyogle Council until February 23.

Ms Webster has endorsed the appointment of council staff member Chris White as interim GM.

Mr White is director of planning and community development and he will take on the acting general manager role while the council recruits a permanent GM.

Mr White was acting GM at Gannawarra Shire Council in Victoria in 2015 and has previously been acting GM at Kyogle Council.

The council will begin the recruitment process for a permanent GM in February.
