COUNCIL: Kylie Thomas is new Kyogle mayor, Tom Cooper is deputy

Nine councillors voted for their mayor and deputy at the Kyogle Council meeting tonight.

Running for the position of mayor were Danielle Mulholland and Kylie Thomas.

Councillors Hayden Doolan, Tom Cooper, James Murray, Kylie Thomas, Danielle Mulholland, John Burley, Janet Wilson, Robert Cullen and Maggie May cast their votes by a show of hands.

Five votes went to Thomas, and four to Mulholland.

General manager Graham Kennett declared Councillor Kylie Thomas the new Kyogle mayor.

The meeting then moved onto the election of deputy mayor.

John Burley and Tom Cooper put their hands up for deputy.

The votes went five-four to Councillor Tom Cooper.

The term to be served for both posiitons is only two years and nine months because covid delayed the election and reduced the length of the term.
