A warning for severe thunderstorms that were likely to produce damaging winds, large hailstones and heavy rainfall was put out by the Bureau of Meterology at 6.19pm.
Flash flood warnings were given for Kyogle, Tabulam, Coffs Harbour, Kempsey, Sawtell and Dorrigo.
The next warning is due to be issued by 9:20 pm.
