It’s been a busy weekend for firefighters.

On Saturday, August 12, Casino Rural Fire Brigade attended many fires.

At 1.30pm, the Casino crew went to a grass fire at Musgraves Rd, North Casino.

When they arrived, the crew found a small area of grass alight that had escaped the landowner’s control.

At 2.15pm two Casino units responded to a bush fire at Eden Creek.

When other local crews arrived Casino 1 was stood down because the difficult terrain was not suitable for the larger truck.

Then at 3.15pm the Casino 1 crew went to a grass fire at Reardons Lane, Swan Bay. Before they got there the property owner’s farm machinery caught alight.

Crew members had to wear breathing apparatus to put out the machine fire. RFS units from Woodburn, Alphadale and Wardell blacked out the edge of the fire.

As the Casino 1 unit was finally returning to the station, there was a callout to assist Fire and Rescue Casino with a deliberately lit fire in Bent St at the Casino railway yard.

Tomorrow, Monday, August 14, the fire danger risk is HIGH in Richmond Valley, Kyogle, Clarence Valley and Lismore.
