Bye bye Barty – we’ll miss our sassy, sweet potato loving ball of hair

Lots of you will know Barty the wombat. He was a popular part of the Wildlife Twins show.

The Wildlife Twins sadly announced that Barty, named after tennis player Ash Barty, died on Thursday, December 14.

The Twins wrote this about Barty on their Facebook page:

“It’s with a very heavy heart that we make this post, but we feel it’s only fair that we tell people who Barty has touched.

Last Thursday we found Barty had passed away in his enclosure.

To say we are devastated doesn’t even cut it.

No words can describe what we are feeling.  We have lost a family member.

Barty will be missed.

“We have no idea of the reason.

We are missing this sassy, sweet potato loving ball of hair more than we ever thought possible, and it just feels wrong not having Barty around anymore.

He touched so many, he helped our dreams come true and he made people fall in love with wildlife. We miss him dearly.

We are currently working with a team of vets to try to work out why he is no longer with us.

Thank you for your support and love.

We are still trying to find our feet. But one day at a time.”

They ended their message with the words – “Love you to the moon and back, Barty.”

The Wildlife Twins are based in Ballina and will be doing a show with their other animals on January 8 at the Backyard Sessions at the Evans Head Bowling Club.
