COVID: 26 new cases in Northern Rivers, none in Kyogle, Richmond Valley

In NSW, 3057 new covid cases were reported today.

26 new cases are from the Northern Rivers.

17 are in the Byron area, 5 in Ballina LGA and 4 in the Lismore LGA.

There are no new cases reported in Kyogle, Richmond Valley or Clarence Valley LGAs.

There are five covid patients in hospital in Northern NSW, none are in ICU.

Across the state, there are 284 covid cases admitted to hospital with 39 people in intensive care, 11 of whom require ventilation.

There were two covid deaths overnight.

All cases are contacted by text message from NSW Health to inform them of their positive diagnosis. Cases are asked to alert their household contacts and people who they stayed with for four hours or more to get a PCR test and isolate for seven days, regardless of the result.

The Northern NSW Local Health District is urging anyone in Northern NSW who develops symptoms such as a runny nose, a scratchy or sore throat, or is generally feeling unwell, to get tested and isolate immediately, even if you are fully vaccinated.

We will report on the locations of NNSWLHD covid cases as soon as they are announced.
