COVID GEOGRAPHY: No new cases in Northern Rivers for four days

Susanna Freymark

Every day, NSW Health release the number of covid cases and the regions they come from.
Every day, I scour the list to see the numbers for the Northern Rivers.
It takes another hour or two before the Northern NSW Local Health District sends the LGA location for those Northern Rivers cases.

For four days straight there have been no new cases reported in our region.

The total number of cases in NNSWLHD since June 16 remains at 124.
Nine out of 10 people over 15 in Northern NSW have had their first covid vaccination.
With 173 new covid cases reported in NSW today, here’s how other regions are faring:
  • 64 are from Hunter New England
  • 25 are from Murrumbidgee
  • six are from Central Coast
  • five are from Illawarra Shoalhaven
  • three are from Mid North Coast
  • four are from Southern NSW
  • two are from Nepean Blue Mountains
  • one is from the Far West
  • two are unassigned and the rest are in Sydney.
At today’s media conference Premier Dominic Perrottet said the state was on track with its vaccination targets.
“I believe that we can get to that 95% mark, (with) a strong booster program which we were already undertaking,” Mr Perrottet said.
“I think we can continue to ensure we don’t go backwards, we open up, provide freedom and opportunity for every single person across our state.”

YES! We can dance from next Monday. New roadmap rules for the vaccinated
