Early voting for council elections opens

Local government elections will be held on Saturday, December 4 having previously been cancelled twice because of covid.
Voting is compulsory if you are 18 years or over and an Australian citizen.
All pre-poll locations for early voting are open from tomorrow, Monday November 22 to December 3, Monday to Saturday, 9am to 5pm.
Early voting is at:
Kyogle
Kyogle Memorial Institute Hall, 6-8 Stratheden Street, Kyogle. Wheelchair accessible.
Lismore Returning Officers’ Office: 125 Woodlark Street, Lismore. Wheelchair accessible.
Richmond Valley
Casino Community and Cultural Centre, 35 Walker Street, Casino. Wheelchair accessible.
Evans Head Library, 19-25 Woodburn Street, Evans Head. Wheelchair accessible.

 

To vote on election day, visit a polling place between 8am and 6pm.
To vote by post and have your ballot papers posted to you, you can apply online or download a form here – opens in new tab.
To be counted, your completed postal vote must be received by the NSW Electoral Commission by 6pm on Friday, December 17.
iVote allows some members of the community to vote online or over the phone.

DID YOU KNOW?
Kyogle Council was established on March 6, 1906. It has a population of 8,940 and occupies an area of 3,584 square kilometres. The council is divided into three wards and is served by nine councillors including a mayor and deputy mayor who are selected by the councillors.
Richmond Valley Council was established in February 2000. It has a population of 22,807 and occupies an area of 3,047 square kilometres. The council is served by seven councillors including a mayor and deputy mayor who are elected by the people.
