The Sydney to Brisbane railway line was closed for a short while tonight, Sunday, December 18, to allow firefighters to safely enter the rail corridor to attend to a fire.

The Fire and Rescue NSW Station 253 Casino crew put out a fire in a large area of grass, about 300m long, that was surrounding several buildings and impacting the railway line at Bent St.

Two trucks from Casino attended as well as a pumper from Lismore and two RFS tankers.

Police attended the scene and the fire is considered suspicious.
