As of today, Tuesday, September 1, fire permits are required for burning in the open.
Permits are available online or in paper form.
Once your application is received and allocated, a local fire permit officer will contact you to arrange an inspection.
Following the inspection, a permit may be issued.
Or you can contact your local fire permit officers directly.
There are some brigades that don’t do online permits, and the phone numbers for the fire permit officers for that brigade will be emailed to you.
Remember to notify the RFS and all neighbours at least 24 hours before lighting a fire.

Fire permit officers are volunteers, so allow a few days for a member to attend your property. Ensure you have any containment lines in place, or 3m cleared around piles.
