Publican Carl Agnew has been thinking about doing a music festival for four years.
He owns and runs the Dog n Bull Hotel and the very first Boots, Bands and Bush Verse Bonalbo Music Festival is on September 5–6 with nine performers across the weekend. There are bush poets too on Sunday morning at Bonalbo Memorial Hall for a Poets Breakfast.
“It’ll be like a mini-Tamworth,” Carl said.
He’s expecting 500 to 1000 people to come to Bonalbo.
And it’s all free.
Carl is excited about the poets Murray Hartin and Marco Gliori coming to town.
“I put the poets so there was more for people to do,” Carl said.
He invited the local schools to write poetry and some of them will be reading their poems at the festival too.
Local Andy Maclean will emcee the performances.

One of the performers Jase Lansky is keen to get to the Dog n Bull.
“I’m just back from playing out west Queensland and looking forward to seeing y’all this weekend at the Bonalbo Music Festival,” he said.
Other artists appearing at the festival include Off Judy, Blue Skillet Rovers, The Hawks, The Hoochers, Chris Staff Band, The Linelockers and Billy Gudgeon.
