It’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in the main street

For the second year, Kyogle Show secretary Lauren Schottelius and others have decorated the large windows of the former IGA building on Summerland Way, Kyogle.

“Last year, after the show we were thinking of ways we could support the community outside of show time,” Lauren said.

When the Chamber of Commerce advertised the Christmas Street Party, Lauren got thinking how best to celebrate Christmas in Kyogle.

The show society applied for a grant from the Royal Agricultural Society of NSW and gave out presents at the street party last year.

“The window display and the grant from the RAS Foundation last year was absolutely perfect and we had so much fun doing it,” Lauren said.

Kyogle Show Society members gave out presents at last year’s street party in Kyogle.

This year, the Kyogle Show was invited to decorate the shop window again.

“I met with Tom Jorgensen and we built on last year’s display offering a new level of fun for 2023,” she said.

“We’ve been planning this display for a few months. We had a lot of props from last year.

“My dad painted the cubby house bright red with white trim for the workshop and Tom and Anne Jorgensen printed our new beautiful backdrop lifting the whole display.

“They didn’t stop there – we were all caught up in the joy of the display, we hung Christmas lights that will be twinkling for the whole of December and set up a train that will run all through the mountains and mini village, this will be turned on every Saturday morning.”

At the Kyogle Christmas Street Party, there will be an animal nursery in front of the window display.

Kyogle Christmas Street Party is on Friday, December 8 from 5pm.
