For 18 years, Joyce Miller has been a volunteer driver for Hart.
She is retiring at 80 because she needs to be at home to look after her husband who is ill.
Ms Miller with Kyogle mayor Kylie Thomas and Hart chief executive Isaac Smith cut a ribbon to officially open the new office in Kyogle today, Tuesday, September 5.
Joyce is one of many volunteer drivers.
“I enjoyed helping other people,” Joyce said.
“I was brought up like that. I grew up on a farm and if someone turned up for a cup of tea – you’d just give it to them.”
Home Assistance & Regional Transport–Hart has offices in Lismore, Casino, Maclean and Kyogle. An office will open in Bonalbo in October.
Hart drives people to the doctor, dentist, chiropractor and other appointments.
The organisation also provides social outings.
Hart offers home care packages too.
