Eight new police officers are joining Richmond Police District – two at Casino, three in Lismore and three at Ballina Police Station.
Five new officers also join the Tweed/Byron Police District and nine for the New England Police District.
The new officers from Class 369 were sworn in last week before they start 12 months of on-the-job training at their new home stations today, Monday, August 24.
State MP Janelle Saffin welcomed the new recruits to our region.
Minister for Police and Counter-terrorism Yasmin Catley also announced that an additional class will be added this year, moving from three to four classes a year and giving more people the opportunity to join the ranks.
