There was little change in the number of cattle yarded at the NRLX today, Wednesday, September 18 with 1078 head.
The yarding of young cattle was made of mainly weaners with a few pens of yearlings.
Quality was mixed, although there were a few more well-bred cattle through the sale.
The market varied according to quality however most sales of cattle regained last week’s loss.
Restocker weaner steers sold from 276c to 418c while restocker weaner heifers sold from 204c to 348c/kg.
The yearling steers ranged from 305c to 374c with most going to restockers and backgrounders. There were only a few yearling heifers and they sold to 284c/kg.
There were increased numbers of grown steers yarded with several pens of heavyweights sold.
A buyer absent from the market this week resulted in prices being down by 10c to 15c with most steers selling from 310c to 330c/kg.
Grown heifers sold to 308c/kg.
The cow market varied with prices ranging from firm to 10c cheaper for heavy cows.
Medium weight 2 scores sold from 232c to 260c and 3 score medium weights averaged 269c/kg.
Heavy 4 score cows sold from 277c to 297c, with a pen of young heavy cows reaching a top price of 309c/kg.
Heavy bulls sold to 294c/kg.
