The access to Richmond River via Halsteads Drive was smashed to pieces in the February-March floods last year.

The roadway is the only accessible place to get down to the river in Casino.

Halsteads Drive is on Crown Land and the State Government has announced a $1,527,000 grant to repair the roadway.

State MP Chris Gulaptis said the region’s roads had taken a beating from the floods and prolonged wet weather last year.

“It’s important that we provide every support to councils,” Mr Gulaptis said.

The funding is part of $9.81million in grants to local councils across the state to help repair damaged Crown land in communities under the 2022 Crown Lands Flood Recovery Program.

The roadway is broken into large pieces.
