Police use road spikes to stop car, then arrest two boys hiding in Woodburn drain

Road spikes were used to stop two teens in a red Honda Civic at Woodburn on Sunday, April 7.

The two males, aged 14 and 15, ran away and after a brief chase by police on foot, the teens were arrested in the town drain.

This arrest came after a series of crimes.

Richmond Police District officers attended a home in Goonellabah after reports of a break and enter at Taylor Avenue on Sunday, April 7.

Police were told a red Honda Civic was allegedly stolen from the location.

At 2.25am, officers received another report of an alleged break and enter in Calnan Crescent, Cumbalum, where the Honda was seen leaving.

The Honda was later seen on the Bruxner Highway, Wollongbar where it allegedly failed to stop when directed by policer.

A pursuit was initiated by police through Wollongbar, Lindendale, Lismore and Woodburn covering about 50km.

Road spikes were deployed and the Honda came to a stop on Cedar Street, Woodburn.

Police arrested the boys in the drain and took them to Lismore Police Station.

The boys were refused bail and are in the children’s court today, Monday, April 8.
