Richmond River to exceed 1974 flood levels at Casino, Woodburn

Major flooding continues at Casino, Bungawalbin, Coraki and Woodburn.

In many places, river levels may reach or exceed the March 2017 and March 1974 levels.

A separate flood warning is current for the Wilsons River at Lismore, where strong river rises above the major flood level are happening. The levee was overtopped this morning.

A severe thunderstorm warning has been issued for Evans Head with intense rainfall expected at Lismore and Coraki.

The Richmond River at Casino is likely to exceed the major flood level of 17.7 metres this afternoon. The river level may reach around 18.3 metres by evening

The Richmond River at Coraki may reach around 7.2 metres this afternoon, which is above the March 1974 peak of 7.01 metres.

The Richmond River at Bungawalbin is likely to 7.2 metres this afternoon.

At Woodburn, river levels could reach 4.2 metres at midday and rise to 5.3 metres during Tuesday, March 1 which is above the March 1974 peak of 4.92 metres.
