Surfer Callum Robson, 20, from Evans Head has the whole town cheering for him after he beat Mick Fanning at Bells Beach.

Robson scored a 7.77-point riding his final wave at the Championship Tour in Victoria.

There were 16 heats in the competition and Robson’s final score was 14.50 beating Fanning who scored 14.27.

Evans Head Surf Club set up a fundraiser for Robson to help him reach this surfing milestone.

Fanning, 40, had come out of retirement to try for a record fifth win at Bells.

Now it is up to Robson to take the title after such a victory in the quarter finals.
