The new pop-up park in Barker St, Casino, opposite the Tatts Hotel is almost finished.

Originally earmarked as a car park extension, it has been turned into a green space in the heart of the CBD.

Funding for the transformation came from a $340,000 State Government Streets as Shared Spaces grant.

The space has shade structures, pathways, sandstone blocks for seating, picnic tables, noughts and crosses play equipment, and landscaping, as well as pavement stencilling and artwork.

The area will have power and water and be able to host pop-up markets and performances.

Richmond Valley Council are yet to advise on a date for the opening of The Greens on Barker.
