The peaches may be limited but the fun isn’t at Peach Festival

It’s difficult to have a Peach Festival without bucketloads of ripe peaches.

Fortunately, John and Frieda De Kleuver have a whole lot of fun planned for the Pick Your Own day at Southview Orchard tomorrow, Sunday, October 16.

“Unfortunately, we don’t have many peaches because the weather has not been kind to us,” John said.

“Too many cloudy, cold days and not enough sunshine. The peaches are not ripening when they should be. We cannot change the weather and farming is relying on it.”

Southview Orchard will have a limited quantity of peaches and yellow nectarines.

The amount people can pick will be limited so what is available is shared among as many people as possible, John said.

There is plenty for the family to do at the festival besides pick peaches.

Enjoy coffee, breakfast and live music at the orchard. Make a flower crown with Suellen Thompson who is bringing flowers from Field and Flower at 10am.

At 11am the Wildlife Twins will host a funny wildlife show with their animals.

Farm gates open at 9am. Head to 1165 Hogarth Range Rd, Hogarth Range.
