Two teens charged with armed robbery and car theft

Police were called to a home on Queen Street, Coraki after reports a SUV had been stolen at about 2.45pm yesterday, Monday, April 15.

A short time later, police received a report of an armed robbery at the takeaway shop on Queen Elizabeth Drive.

Police were told a group of young people allegedly threatened staff with a machete and crowbar before stealing cash and leaving in the stolen car.

Following inquiries, police found the stolen SUV in bushland at Coraki.

A short time later police arrested two 16 year old boys.

They were taken to Lismore Police Station where they were charged with armed robbery and stealing.

They were refused bail and were in Lismore Children’s Court today, Tuesday, April 15.

In court, they were refused bail again and will be back in court on Friday, April 26.

Inquiries are continuing.
