Why is watching a driveway being pressure cleaned so compelling?

Susanna Freymark

It’s calming. It’s satisfying.

It’s a video of  Griffin Graham pressure cleaning a concrete driveway in Kyogle.

The trend on social media platforms including Instagram and TikTok is of videos of pressure cleaning, lawn mowing and trimming grass edges, sped up to make the viewing even more satisfying.

Griffin is based in Kyogle and has been running his business White Sage Garden & Property Maintenance for a year.

He decided to get in on the video trend after watching videos on You Tube.

“I thought it would bring attention to the business,” Griffin said.

And it has. The videos posted on the White Sage Garden & Property Maintenance Facebook page are popular.

Griffin moved to Kyogle when he was two years old. At 31, he is studying for a law degree with University of New England and the property maintenance business is a way to fund his studies.

Most of his four-year course is done online.

“I make the most of it,” he said.

His law interest is in police negligence or contract law.

His father is a stonemason and Griffin has plenty of tools, so starting White Sage was easy.

He has a tripod he sets up to film himself pressure cleaning.

He plans to keep doing the videos.
