ACALS has opened in Casino in a prominent position near the roundabout at Centre and Barker streets.
ACALS stands for Accessible Care and Lifestyle Services.
The Casino office has 10 staff who help people in all kinds of situations.
It could include assisting a person with a disability to apply for the right government funding. Or one-on-one support for someone in an aged care home.
ACALS Australia chief executive Ruth Lopez Gonzales came up from Sydney for the official opening of the Casino office, today, Monday, October 17.
We are big on creating partnerships rather than competition with other organisations, Ms Lopez said.
Ten years ago, Ms Lopez went to an ACALS office. Back then, it was mainly a place to find employment opportunities.
“In those days I was a single parent with English as a second language,” she said.
Originally from Peru, Ms Lopez got help from the organisation to fill in forms to apply for jobs.
Then she started working for ACALS.
“I thank those people who gave me the opportunity,” she said.
These days ACALS offers support to a range of people. If you think they could help you call 8750 0230.
