Kyogle man Marcel Little remembered for hospital charity rides

Jody and Marcel Little.

Marcel Little was born in Kyogle.

He was well known as the manager of Ritchies IGA in Kyogle. He left that position about three years ago.

Marcel was also a keen bike rider before he had to give it up because of ill health.

On Thursday, December 28, Marcel died of prostate cancer with his family by his side. He was 56.

In 2013, Marcel was part of setting up a charity bike ride.

It started over a couple of beers at the footy on a cold Saturday night in Kyogle where Greg Watson and Marcel dreamed up an idea to raise money for local hospitals.

The 3 Hospital Charity Bike Ride became a fundraiser for Kyogle, Urbenville and Bonalbo hospitals.

For the next five years, 30–40 riders rode from Kyogle to Woodenbong and onto Bonalbo.

More than $105,000 dollars was raised from the bike rides and the money was spilt between the three hospitals.

“You will always be remembered as a great person with a huge heart that gave more than he took,” a family friend said about Marcel.
