It is no surprise the mayor for Richmond Valley has been re-elected getting more than 71% of the votes.

Robert Mustow was officially announced as mayor by the NSW Electoral Commission.

“I appreciate you having confidence in my leadership and I will continue to carry out the role to my best ability,” Mr Mustow wrote on Facebook.

“I take this opportunity to thank the other mayoral candidate Robert Hayes for giving the community an alternative option which I believe is essential in a democracy.”

Robert Hayes will find out on Wednesday if he has enough votes for a councillor position.

So far Patrick Deegan, Sandra Humphrys, Steve Morrissey, Sam Cornish are in as councillors.

The final two positions will be contended by Debra McGillan, Robert Hayes and Jill Lyons.

We’ll let you know as soon as the Electoral Commission announces the results on Wednesday.
