At a morning tea to raise money for research into childhood cancer Millie Trustum and Donna Maria Colbrelli got talking about using Donna’s art to help raise funds.

Millie has been through cancer and has come out the other side.

She now devotes much of her time to raising money for the Kids Cancer Project. The Trustum family from Tatham helps her do this by organising events such as the Bingo night at Greenridge Hall tonight, Saturday, September 9.

Millie’s father Kevin Trustum said Donna Maria gave Millie some of her drawings of under the sea to use as a colouring-in activity.

Some of the drawings were of mermaids and they decided they could work on a colouring book and call it Millie’s Mermaids, Kevin said.

Donna Maria produced 32 full page drawings and Millie chose 28 of them for the colouring-in book.

“I am passionate about cancer research as a nurse and am a friend of the Trustum families,” Donna Maria said.

“I admire reefs and underwater worlds and mermaids are gorgeous mythical creatures.

“It will give colourers an ability to detach and enter a fantasy world of beauty and freedom.

Millie’s Mermaids Colouring Book is $10 and postage is $3.

The books are for sale at the Greenridge Hall tonight and at Clay By Smegg in Barker St, Casino and at the Casino Farmers market on September 16.
